I was telling twitter (twitter and I often have confabs, you know) how uncommonly glorious my mom’s Pinterest is, and that I wished she had a tumblr because she would be an excellent reblogger and curator of wonderful things. Today we had our annual plant farm trip and I then set her up on tumblr. She seemed pretty excited about it!
The first thing we did was go through her Pinterest so I could show her how many of her repins were sourced to tumblrs, and she found lots of tumblrs to follow that way, and then I showed her how to make original posts. She may even journal some, she seemed interested in it. She had a livejournal back in the day and it was especially helpful for her when she was going through chemotherapy. She has wonderful taste in art and music. She’s an artist herself, so she might post about that, too.

Be gentle with her tumblrinos, she’s still learning!
PS one of my mom’s boards on Pinterest that I think is particularly amazing: things that scared me when i was a kid

Another thing my mom is celebrating is being cancer free for 10 years. This week in 2002 she had surgery to remove breast cancer, and started a long year of recovery. We got together on Thursday to do a little shoot with her new sleevey wonders, which hide some of the issues that she still has from her lumpectomy and lymph node removal. She’s so wonderful and I am so proud of her. <3
