I spent a bit of time yesterday going through old photo backup CDs. I think I bit my tongue and I was trying to capture it, at first, but this clearly dissolved into something completely other. My camera was having serious white balance issues at the time, only when it was in macro mode and it was very frustrating, but in retrospect I think these are weirdly nifty.
Shaun and I had already met but not started dating yet when I took these. Bit o’ trivia.

The last summer I had a real garden was 2008. My dad came in the spring and helped till the back lot, mom and I pulled up tree roots and turned over earth, I had a flat of bell pepper seedlings in my back porch room in the window popping up and ready to plant after the last frost date. I didn’t have the heart for a garden in 2009.
This year I am slowly getting excited at the prospect again. I’ve done a lot of yard work in the past week or so. It’s too late to start seeds indoors this year, so I’ll have to get some started plants, but I think I’m ready for it. I just hope it isn’t impossibly hot again this summer.

Thinking of changing my avatar. Changes in season do this to me. Anyway, this is the current one, which I do love, from August 3, 2011. It was 113 F and Shaun and I laid on the mattress on the floor in front of the air conditioner watching Netflix and eating avocado sandwiches.
